Pick Your Perfect Apple

Each fall, visitors are invited to explore the orchard and discover the flavors of the season. From crisp, tart apples perfect for baking to sweet varieties ideal for snacking, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Picking apples is a simple tradition that brings families and friends together—fresh air, beautiful views, and apples straight from the tree.

Fresh Apples Straight from the Orchard

Hatches Orchard grows a variety of apples throughout the fall harvest season. Visitors are welcome to walk the orchard rows, enjoy the landscape, and pick apples directly from the trees while they are at their peak.

The orchard is home to more than 230 apple trees, featuring classic New England varieties including McIntosh, Cortland, Northern Spy, Empire, Honeycrisp, and Red Delicious. Each offers its own flavor and character—from crisp apples perfect for baking to sweet varieties ideal for fresh eating.

Apple availability changes throughout the season as different varieties ripen. Early fall brings some of the orchard’s first harvests, while later varieties are excellent for baking, cider, and storage. Because timing can vary each year, the best way to see what’s ready to pick is to visit the orchard or check our Visit Us page and social media for current updates.
